The Yamaha APX600 Electro Acoustic Natural takes everything that made its predecessor, the APX500, one of the world’s best-selling electro-acoustic guitars, and enhances it with incredible comfort and stunning aesthetics. Along with its thin-line body, the APX600 features a new bracing pattern to increase bass response and an APX oval soundhole for a thicker lower mid response.

The nato and spruce construction provides a superb tone, suitable for a variety of playing styles, while its rosewood fingerboard offers extra layers of depth and warmth. It’s also equipped with the stage-focused SRT piezo pickup and SYSTEM65 preamp, offering an incredibly dynamic performance with excellent tone shaping capabilities.

Magnificent tonewoods

Spruce is a popular choice of wood for a guitar top, and with its bright tone it’s easy to see why. The Yamaha APX600 achieves its sparkling clarity of the higher range and the enchanting depth of the lower end from this favourable wood. It provides amazing tonal complexity and a dynamic range which is incredibly broad. Whilst being classic and traditional in appearance, its crisp tone is versatile enough to be used by a wide range of playing styles and it is suitable for musicians of any level. Accompanying the spruce top, nato back and sides expand on the soundscape, making it even more wonderfully dynamic. It’s extremely similar to mahogany and brings a sense of warmth to the guitar’s sound, perfectly suited to its acoustic style.

The rosewood fingerboard is a welcome addition which further enriches the guitar’s angelic sound. This makes it perfect for intimate playing sessions, it gives the guitar spirit and character which works superbly in small venues. If you are wanting to play to larger audiences, however, don’t worry, the dynamic range and crystal-clear tone mean it can project to all corners of the room.

Equipped with Yamaha’s SRT piezo pickup, the Yamaha APX600 offers a dazzling sound. The pickup relies on its ultra-wide bandwidth signal to offer an excellent response with brilliant tonal accuracy, and this makes every single note sound exquisite. Without taking away from the acoustic qualities, the pickup works with the SYSTEM65 preamp to produce a sound that is unique to you. You can shape your tone to suit you using the 3-band EQ, mid FQ and volume controls, making every song shine as it should. The tuner then ensures you sounds absolutely flawless. Better still, the controls are disguised immaculately on the side of the guitar, so you can retain the enchanting vintage aesthetic of the guitar and play with a sound to match.

The APX Series

Yamaha’s APX Series provides players with an excellent performance, dynamic tonal options, and an incredibly comfortable design. The unique APX body thin-line body shape allows you to hug the guitar close to your body, while its cutaway design offers excellent reach to the higher frets. Plus, its soundhole helps to thicken the lower mid response with a prominent, open low end. Specially designed non-scalloped X-type bracing then enables those top-end frequencies to sing, maximising the resonance of the unique body shape for a full, natural tone.
